Together with OSHI and Steppin’ Into Tomorrow, Super-Sonic Jazz returns to Paradiso with the second edition of Super-Sonic Showcase Fest. Alongside the annual Super-Sonic Jazz Festival in November, this initiative offers a platform for emerging artists exploring and expanding the boundaries of jazz, soul, funk and hip-hop - with a strong focus on the local scene. RADIOHOP is an Amsterdam-based instrumental collective moving at the intersection of groove, texture and improvisation. The band - Joshua Lutz, Euan Jenkins, Johnny Biner and Joel Svedberg - builds immersive soundscapes where jazz sensibilities meet the pulse of hip-hop and soul. Following their debut album All We Do, the group continues to expand their sonic world. With a second full-length album already recorded, RADIOHOP dives even deeper into the raw, collaborative energy that defines their sound.
ROSEYE is an Amsterdam-based band that blends soul, funk, hip-hop, electronic textures and punk energy into a rich jazz foundation. The five-piece channels influences from across Europe - Scotland, Poland, Lithuania, Germany and the Netherlands - into a sound that is unmistakably their own. ROSEYE pairs poetic, socially conscious lyricism with deep grooves and explosive live energy.
Through their debut album Every Move (2024) and the EP Ways of Speaking (2025), ROSEYE showcases a fearless blend of sonic experimentation and musical precision. Mentored by saxophone icon Candy Dulfer (Prince, Aretha Franklin) and renowned for their explosive live shows, the band is emerging as one of the most compelling new voices in contemporary jazz across Europe.
SMANDEM. is an Amsterdam-based collective consisting of Aäron Bouwman (bass), Rafael Devante Sinay (guitar) and Kick Woudstra (drums). Inspired by innovators such as Herbie Hancock, Christian Scott and Wayne Shorter, but also by artists like Kanye West and Brent Faiyaz, the trio moves effortlessly between tradition and innovation. Their sound is rooted in jazz, but refuses to be confined by style or convention.
The three met during their studies at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, where their shared vision immediately created a strong musical connection. With the EP Self-Titled. (2021), they presented their own signature sound. In 2023, Elle (Reworked) with Ntjam Rosie followed, including a tour. SMANDEM. proves that an incredible skillset and an open-minded approach can make genre distinctions fade into pure energy.
WAZO BEAN is a five-piece experimental soul collective rooted in Amsterdam, driven by a deep fascination for nature and alternative states of being. Their intimate, soulful compositions unfold into vibrant, layered soundscapes carried by groove-heavy rhythms and a raw, instinctive energy. Drawing inspiration from Hiatus Kaiyote, Hermeto Pascoal and Clever Austin, the band is steadily carving out its place within Amsterdam’s music and performance art scene. On stage, WAZO BEAN invites listeners into immersive worlds, guiding them through shifting perspectives of animals and imagined creatures.
Junya, born Junior Emmanuel Koney, is a Ghanaian drummer and multidisciplinary creative based in the Netherlands. As a musician, model and founder of Higherlife Jam, he brings together artists, musicians and creative minds through music and community.
Rooted in rhythm from an early age - encouraged by his mother, who first recognized his talent. Junya has grown into a distinctive musician within the Dutch music scene. As an independent musician he has collaborated with artists such as Rimon, Fullcrate, Akwasi, Yung Nnelg, Bnnyhunna and Arp Frique. His dynamic playing has taken him to stages around the world, including major festivals like Lowlands. Whether on stage or through Higherlife Jam, Junya continues to build spaces where groove, connection and creativity come together.
