5. Marinjo Baru

Marinjo - meaning “messenger” in Moluccan Malay -has given a voice to Moluccan communities in the Netherlands since 1978. Since 1995, it has been independently produced by Moluccan entrepreneurs and creators, with the mission to preserve Moluccan heritage and inspire new generations.

8. Massada

For many Moluccan families, music has always been a vital part of culture and community. With the band Massada, Moluccan music reached the major stages of the Netherlands, becoming a powerful moment of recognition and pride for many. Their song “Sayang E” even went on to become a number one hit.

10. Museum Maluku

A place where the collective memory of Moluccan communities in the Netherlands is preserved. Through photographs, stories and archives, the history of the community remains visible and alive.

From March 21, Museum Maluku presents the exhibition In Eigen Woorden. The archive holds thousands of photographs of Moluccan life in the Netherlands, yet many still miss part of their story. March 21 – September 26, 2026

11. Sana Sini

Sana Sini in The Hague brings Moluccan cuisine to the Netherlands in a warm, living-room-like setting where food and community come together. The name means “there and here” in Malay - a reference to the connection between the Moluccas and the Netherlands. It’s a true family business, with multiple generations cooking together.

12. Stichting Verloren Banden

Stichting Verloren Banden by Jeftha Pattikawa digitizes and shares 300 previously lost videotapes documenting everyday life in the Moluccan community of Vaassen. Filmed by Moluccan youth between the 1970s and mid-1990s, the footage offers a rare glimpse into a community often overlooked in Dutch history - capturing both its struggles and its strong sense of togetherness as it gradually found its place in Dutch society.

13. Het Noordbrabants Museum – Ketahanan

Ketahanan: Stories of Resilience is an exhibition where Moluccans share their history in the Netherlands through artworks, objects, photographs and video stories. Developed together with the community, it highlights the diversity of voices within the diaspora and how new generations shape the future. Built around four themes - (de)colonization, diaspora, resilience and future - the exhibition invites visitors to engage with a history that is still very much alive. On view until May 31, 2026.

14. Stichting Moluks Erfgoed

Stichting Moluks Erfgoed is dedicated to preserving and raising awareness of Moluccan heritage in the Netherlands. Through research, projects and blog reports, the foundation works to document important historical sites - including former Moluccan settlements and locations like De Punt - ensuring these stories and places remain visible for future generations.
