SML is a quintet bringing together key voices from Los Angeles’ vibrant jazz, improvised and indie music scenes. The group features bassist Anna Butterss, synthesist Jeremiah Chiu, saxophonist Josh Johnson, percussionist Booker Stardrum and guitarist Gregory Uhlmann. Their debut album Small Medium Large, recorded during early live performances at Los Angeles venue ETA, was released in 2024 to widespread critical acclaim, earning spots on several ‘Best of 2024’ lists including Bandcamp Daily and Tone Glow. Since then, SML has taken their exploratory, groove-driven sound beyond Los Angeles, performing at festivals and venues such as Rewire, Winter Jazz Fest and Pickathon. With a new album How You Been arriving in fall 2025, the band continues to expand its sonic universe while bringing its dynamic live performances to audiences worldwide.
