After two sold-out editions in March and April, Super-Sonic Jazz once again joins forces with Skatecafe on Saturday, June 1st, 2024, for Super-Sonic Jam XL: an extra-large edition of Super-Sonic Jam. The event will feature a jam session, live acts, and a soulfood barbecue across two rooms and the terrace. Following the jam session, attendees can dance into the early hours during the Super-Sonic Jazz Rave.
Super-Sonic Jam
Super-Sonic Jam originated in the basement of Paradiso during the annual Super-Sonic Jazz Festival. These informal jam sessions brought musicians and attendees together to play late into the night, emphasizing spontaneity, creativity, and improvisation. Since early 2024, Super-Sonic Jam has been hosted at Skatecafe, with local star drummer Emmanuel Afriyie and his concept Els Jam taking center stage. For the Super-Sonic Jam XL edition, the event is going international, inviting members of the London collective Steam Down to lead the jam. Steam Down will also be positioned in the middle of the room, surrounded by the audience. Throughout the set, numerous guest musicians and vocalists will be invited to participate.
Steam Down
Steam Down is a music collective and weekly event in Southeast London, founded in 2017 by multi-instrumentalist, composer, and producer Ahnansé, with the aim of connecting musicians and producers in London, regardless of their background. What started as a weekly jam session has become an indispensable part of the London music scene. Their debut single ‘Free My Skin’ has already received 2 million views worldwide, and although they are hard at work on their debut album, they are graciously making time for our jam on June 1st.
ZEP
Following Steam Down’s jam session, Skatecafe will open the remainder of the venue. This includes a performance by ZEP, a remarkable multi-instrumentalist known for his versatile talent and impressive live performances playing various instruments. ZEP’s performances are full of energy and have garnered a large fanbase within the skate/break/hip-hop/electronic scene, hyping up the audience.
Furthermore, DJs Leroy Rey, Jerrau, KC The Funkaholic, SIEM, and L-Dopa will entertain us for the rest of the night with delightful tunes where standing still is not an option.
For this event, two types of tickets are available:
- Super-Sonic Jam XL featuring Steam Down & ZEP – access from 18:00
- Super-Sonic Jazz Rave – access from 22:00 (after Steam Down)
