On Thursday, March 6, Super-Sonic Jazz returns to Skatecafe for a brand-new edition of Super-Sonic Jam. After kicking off the year with a successful session at our home base Paradiso, it’s time to shake up Amsterdam Noord once again.
Super-Sonic Jam was born a few years ago in the basement of Paradiso during the annual Super-Sonic Jazz Festival. These informal jam sessions brought musicians and visitors together to play deep into the night—where spontaneity, creativity, and improvisation took center stage. Since early 2024, Skatecafé has been the new home of Super-Sonic Jam, with every edition selling out in no time.
Each session, Super-Sonic Jazz invites different artists and collectives to host the jam. In previous editions, the stage was taken over by London-based Steam Down, Haarlem’s INI Movement, and Amsterdam’s Els Jam and Higherlife Jam. Super-Sonic Jam has also been invited to curate jams at major events such as North Sea Jazz Festival and SMIB TNO Fest.
Who will take the stage this time remains a surprise. But one thing is certain: every edition is bursting with energy, featuring guest musicians and vocalists who spontaneously elevate the set. Expect an electrifying fusion of talent, energy, improvisation, and musical magic.
Skatecafe
From 18:00 to 20:00, you can order pizza at Dick & Dick, but reservations are required. Dick & Dick is part of Skatecafe and is located behind the venue, on the square. And for those who still have energy left after the jam, you’re in luck—SIEM, one of Super-Sonic Jazz’s resident DJs, will be providing the perfect vibes to keep the night going.
OSHI
Super-Sonic Jam is part of OSHI, a collaborative project where music venues and talent development organizations from Haarlem, Rotterdam, Amsterdam, and The Hague join forces to help emerging artists advance their careers. OSHI aims to build a sustainable infrastructure for talented acts, supporting them in their artistic, organizational, and personal growth.
OSHI is a joint initiative by Patronaat, Popcentrum Slachthuis, Stichting INI Movement, BIRD, House of Knowledge, Paradiso, Super-Sonic Jazz, PAARD, and Orisun Studio.
