Memphis-born Veronica Camille Ratliff, known as V.C.R, began her musical journey with gospel choirs and classical violin, influenced by her musical family. She attended Phillips Andover Academy and graduated with a music degree in 2017. After moving to Los Angeles, she worked as a session violinist and Art Docent, collaborating with artists like Mndgsn and Pink Siifu. Her 2019 release “Minnie Lives” brought her significant attention, leading to performances on The Late Late Show and at Afropunk. She also published “The Creative Black Woman’s Playbook,” which sold out internationally. Recently, V.C.R collaborated with Andre 3000 on his album “New Blue Sun,” marking a significant milestone in her career as a pioneer of cinematic soul.
