On Saturday, May 31, Super-Sonic Jazz is back at Skatecafe for a brand-new edition of Super-Sonic Jam XL—an extra-large version of Super-Sonic Jam. This time, we’re going all out across two rooms and the terrace, featuring a jam session, live acts, and a soul food barbecue. After the jam session, the night continues with an afterparty, keeping the energy high until the early hours.
For this XL edition, we’re taking things international by inviting a London-based collective to lead the jam—more on that soon… One thing is certain: every edition is bursting with energy, with guest musicians and vocalists spontaneously elevating the session to new heights. Expect a thrilling fusion of talent, energy, improvisation, and musical magic.
Super-Sonic Jam
The concept of Super-Sonic Jam was born a few years ago in the basement of Paradiso during the annual Super-Sonic Jazz Festival. These informal jam sessions brought musicians and visitors together to play deep into the night, focusing on spontaneity, creativity, and improvisation.
Since early 2024, Super-Sonic Jam has found a new home at Skatecafe, where every edition has sold out in no time. Each session, Super-Sonic Jazz invites different artists and collectives to host the jam. Past editions have been taken over by London’s Steam Down, Haarlem’s INI Movement, and Amsterdam-based initiatives Els Jam and Higherlife Jam. Super-Sonic Jam has also been invited to host jams at major events such as North Sea Jazz Festival and SMIB TNO Fest.

From 18:00 to 20:00, you can order pizza at Dick & Dick, but reservations are required. Dick & Dick is part of Skatecafe and is located behind the venue, on the square.
OSHI
Super-Sonic Jam is part of OSHI, a collaborative project where music venues and talent development organizations from Haarlem, Rotterdam, Amsterdam, and The Hague join forces to help emerging artists advance their careers. OSHI aims to build a sustainable infrastructure for talented acts, supporting them in their artistic, organizational, and personal growth.
