The South Londoner Jaz Karis has been singing in church choirs and for anyone who would listen since she was young. The gospel, soca, and soul music her parents played at home shaped her love for music, which led her to find her own place in the British music scene as a young adult. Last September, her long-awaited debut album Safe Flight was released, sounding like a sultry mix of R&B, Afrobeat, gospel, and hip-hop. Most of the inspiration for the album came from her back-and-forth flights between LA and her home.
