Steam Down is a music collective from London that organizes a weekly jam session in Peckham called SD Weekly. Both were founded in 2017 by multi-instrumentalist, composer, and producer Ahnansé, with the goal of connecting musicians and producers in London, regardless of their background. What started as a weekly jam session has grown into an essential part of the London music scene. During the Super-Sonic Jam XL this past June, Steam Down came to Skatecafe and delivered an unforgettable evening. After this roaring success, Super-Sonic Jazz was invited to participate in their weekly jam session in London. Together with Bnnyhunna and his band, they traveled to Peckham this past September to take part in SD Weekly. And now the story continues, as Steam Down will be back for the Super-Sonic Jam at Paradiso on Sunday, November 17.
Super-Sonic Jam
Super-Sonic Jam is a concept that originated in the basement of Paradiso during the annual Super-Sonic Jazz Festival. During these informal jam sessions, musicians and attendees would come together to play deep into the night, with the focus on spontaneity, creativity, and improvisation. Since early 2024, the Super-Sonic Jam has been held at Skatecafe, and after five sold-out editions, it is returning to where it all began: the Super-Sonic Jazz Festival. Regular attendees know the drill: a tight house band takes center stage in the middle of the room, surrounded by the audience. During an improvised set, dozens of guest musicians and vocalists are invited to join in. Even visitors and amateur musicians are welcome to take part.
Whether you’re a seasoned musician, an enthusiastic amateur, or just a lover of boundary-pushing live music, the upcoming Super-Sonic Jam promises to be an unforgettable night of collaboration, creativity, and musical magic. Don’t miss your chance to witness these two collectives come together once more.
