The London-based drummer, composer, and producer, Tom Skinner, has been a pivotal figure in London’s emerging underground music scene for 20 years. Alongside Radiohead members Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood, he forms the trio The Smile. Their debut album, ‘A Light For Attracting Attention’, received praiseful reviews in June 2022. Additionally, Tom was a member of Sons Of Kemet, a British jazz group that, over ten years, grew into one of the key names in London’s vibrant jazz scene.
In 2022, Skinner also unveiled his debut solo album, ‘Voices of Bishara’. Consisting of six pieces for saxophone, percussion, bass, cello, and flute, he recorded them live in the same space. Tom then manipulated the recordings, using techniques like cutting and looping to give the music a fresh and captivating vibe. The result is a tightly woven, hypnotic, and unique sound, with ‘Voices of Bishara’ showcasing timeless and emotive music characterized by expansive movement and exceptional harmonic depth and texture.
